DO I NEED A TEAM TO PARTICIPATE?

It'd be great if you come along with your own group, but for as long as your are willing to help yourself and others, you can participate!

If you don't have a team though, do not hesitate to buy an individual ticket.  You will find that you will not be bored at the event, not even for a minute, even if you wanted to!  The obstacles are designed in such a way that each and every participant will be a part of one massive team with one goal.

You will run side-by-side with the hundreds of other participants and will most definitely make some spontaneous friendships along the course (yes, just one of the Legion Run course side effects!).  Share your strengths and do not leave anyone behind!

HOW  DO I CREATE A TEAM?

All you need to is pay for the first ticket.  During the signup process you will be asked to set up the team name, generate a secret code and voila!  Your team has just been created.

People you invite to the team may then join whenever they want by entering the secret team code.

Upon registration, everyone pays for their own ticket individually, but each benefits from the team discount.

*  How to join my team?
Just fill in the registration form, add your team name and the secret team code in the appropriate fields.  It's as simple as that!

*  How many people can be on a team?
It's entirely up to you!
However, to benefit from the team discount, a minimum of 25 team members apply.

SHOULD I TRAIN FOR LEGION RUN?
Some follow strict diets and workout routines.  Others eat 2-minute noodles, and regularly participate in drinking sessions.

Either training plan is fine with us.

What we do require is for you to train yourself to be aware when another person needs your help.

We will soon announce a Team of Fitness Trainers with their contact details.

I CAN'T SWIM.  CAN I STILL PARTICIPATE?

Absolutely!

Though we have numerous water obstacles, none of them require basic swimming skills.  All you need is the courage to start and go through with it.

ARE MINORS ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE?

Our participants may act like grown-up children most of the time, but they all are over 18.

There will be activities for spectators though, so children and non-registered adults may enjoy what our partners have to offer outside the course.

We will be allowing 16-18-year old teenagers to participate with their registered guardians (family or relatives).

WHAT DO I RECEIVE AFTER I REGISTER?

You will receive a confirmation email immediately after registering online.  The email will include your ticket, as well as a waiver form.  Please print it, read the attached waiver carefully, and then sign it.

Additionally, in the week before the event, we will send you two more email with useful info, such as recommendations, list of must-haves, and directions on how to reach us.

I HAVE NOT YET RECEIVED A CONFIRMATION EMAIL.  WHAT DO I DO?

Please check your spam folder first.

If you still can't find the confirmation email, notify us at philippines@legionrun.com, and we'll fix things up for you.

CAN I TRANSFER MY TICKET TO SOMEONE ELSE / ANOTHER EVENT?

Yes. Changes are possible up to two weeks before the event date.  Change fees may apply.

CAN I GET A REFUND?

Refunds will only be done in cases where Legion Run itself cancels the event. Under no other circumstances will a refund be allowed.

EVENT DAY

When should I arrive?

We recommend you arrive an hour before the wave you want to participate in starts.  The waves will be every 20 minutes with 175 people in each wave.  GUN STARTS at 8:00 AM. Kit claiming and check in is open starting at 6:00 AM.

Allow yourself enough time to park, register, and warm up.

Take in the setup of the event grounds and familiarize yourself with it.

This will be a good chance for you to check out the activities with your group as well as shop, eat, and get to know the other people joining the fun!

Keep in mind that, if you come late, you may not be able to join your team's wave and will have to run in the next available wave.

What do I need to bring in order to check in?

Bring a valid government ID (ID card, passport, or driving license) plus your printed and signed ticket.

What should I wear?

Anything you feel comfortable wearing while running, jumping, climbing, and crawling through the mud is fine.  Recommended:
  • Half-finger training (grip) gloves
  • Long tights / compression pants
  • Knee high socks
  • Sports shoes
During the run, do NOT wear anything that you would not want it to be covered with mud all over.

Don't think so much about looking cool, be practical, and wear clothes you won't be worried about.  If you won't be worried about wearing a costume, your pyjamas, or your favorite dress, then by all means go for it for as long as you can do the course in it!  It is meant to be fun after all!

How long does it take to run the course?

Finish time depends on you and your team, on whether you are competitive by nature or you are doing the course just for the fun of it.

The average finish time is an hour and a half.

Am I allowed to skip obstacles?

Of course!  Remember?!  This is not a competition, so there are no penalties for bypassing.

In fact, we actively encourage you to skip obstacles if you are even the slightest bit unsure. Feel free to just take photographs, videos, or cheer people on if you choose to bypass.

The idea is to challenge one's self and have fun, not to be terrified and get injured to the point of not having fun anymore!

Will there be food and drinks on site?

Along the course, there will be several stations with free water and sports drink for all the participants.

There will also be food and drink vendors on site offering something for everyone, so please don't bring food and drinks with you.

Will there be medical help?

Yes.  Several first aid teams will be positioned along the course, ready to assist immediately if medical help is needed.

Medical City South Luzon is also 500 meters away from the event premise.

Will there be any after-party?

Why after?!  The whole event itself is a priceless party - there will be food, drinks, music, and some happy muddy creatures wandering around.

TRANSPORT, PARKING, FACILITIES

The location map and GPS coordinates are listed on your event page.

In the week before the event, we will email you the directions to the site.  In the meantime, keep an eye on the Facebook page of your event for more news and updates.

Do you offer transport to the event location?

We don't.  However, feel free to use the Facebook page of the event to search for or post ride-sharing announcements.

But who know, surprises are everywhere.  So stay tuned.

Will there be parking available at the event?

Yes, Paseo de Sta Rosa. Minimal fee applies.

Will there be showers and portlets?

Yes.  Do not expect five-star facilities though.  You'll be able to hose down mud and sweat at the end of the course.  We kindly ask all participants to use the shower facilities wisely in order to avoid unnecessary queues.

SPECTATORS

Spectators are surely allowed!  The more the merrier!

The fun is definitely worth it!

They will also be able to choose their won activities from the host of event partners on the day!

Do you charge a spectator fee?

No.

Am I allowed to walk the course along with the participants?

Hell yeah!  We are among the few in the obstacle course industry that allow spectators to fully experience the event thrill.  They are allowed to follow the participants at some of the course and take pictures.  Please note that spectators must not get in the way of participants who are attempting to or completing obstacles.

Am I allowed to take pictures or make videos on site?

As many as you want!  But if you represent a media, you need to request accreditation and provide us a copy of the footage afterwards.

Can minors and kids come as spectators?

Sure they can!  There will be plenty of activities for them, too!  If you want to enjoy the Legion Run vibe to its fullest though, we recommend you  make sure there is someone else attending to their needs while you are at the course.

Can I bring my dog?

Only k-9 and guide dogs will be allowed at the event.

We're sure your pets are awesome, but we'd like to protect them too from any harm from the event.

HOW TO GET MEDIA ACCREDITATION?

Please email philippines@legionrun.com with your full name, phone number, media organization and role not later than a week before the event date.

DISCLAIMER

Legion Run set to conquer the Philippines in 2017

A totally new outdoor experience is set to conquer the Philippines and excite people who love adventure, challenges, and the outdoors in 2017.  Called the 'Legion Run', this event is a 5km team-oreinted run with 20+ obstacles that offers a once-in-a-lifetime experience to people of all levels of physical fitness and ability, due to its non-competitive nature.

The Legion Run, which is to be held for the first time in the Philippines, is an international event where successful runs were held for the past years in different parts of the world, such as, France, Italy, Poland, Greece, Israel, Bulgaria, and more.

The Philippine debut of the event, the second to be held in Asia, is set on March 4, 2017 at the Greenfield City in Laguna, Philippines.  There will be elements of mud, fire, ice, and barbed wire all throughout the obstacle course and participants are expected to hurdle these by jumping, climbing, and crawling.

Finishers complete the experience by conquering all these body and mental challenges, worthy enough for them to be regarded as true-blooded 'legionnaires',  Legionnaires can then celebrate their success with food, drinks, and various post-event attractions that can be found in the Legion Run Festival Area.

Legion Run is more than just a run or an event.  It's an experience of a lifetime.  Everyone participates for a different reason but they finish all the same; 'change'.  This isn't a race and the prize to win is Pride.  Legion Run is about overcoming personal challenges and the thrill of proving to yourself you CAN.  But most of all, it's about getting out there and having FUN again.

To learn more about the Legion Run, follow our social media accounts in Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/legionrun or https://www.facebook.com/IgnitePhilippinesInc, and Instagram, email at philippines@legionrun.com.

7-ELEVEN Run 2017

A dose of wellness before we write down our 2017 (health) resolutions

After attending Herbalife's wellness symposium Thursday, October 27, I knew I'm back on track in terms of incorporating wellness into my lifestyle.

Herbalife Philippines invited renowned wellness gurus Dr. Julian Alvarez Garcia, a member of the Herbalife Nutrition Advisory Board, and Fitness Coach Chappy Callanta to talk about the challenges of shifting into a healthier lifestyle and how to conquer it.

The struggle to break free from a sedentary lifestyle is real, especially for people who clock in more than 6 hours of work every day. Medical studies linked sedentary lifestyle with critical illnesses, such as hypertension and diseases of the heart.  Write ups are proliferating the internet, and anyone can enumerate hundreds of reference through Google.  They say prolonged sitting is as hazardous as smoking.

I sometimes wear a Garmin watch in the office, and it triggers an alarm whenever I stay seated for more than an hour.  Studies say that prolonged sitting slows down the metabolism, which is not generally healthy for our body.  The solution is to stand up and move for a minute or two, before taking a seat again.  So far, the bad thing I acquired through prolonged sitting is recurring lower back pain. It is made worse by sitting for hours due to worsening Metro Manila traffic.  Since I'm not into pain relievers, my doctor recommended that I exercise regularly to strengthen my back muscles - so the bones will not compensate for everything.  When we are seated, our lower back tends to carry most of the weight and pressure - and the result, recurring lower back (lumbar) pain that simply won't go away.

Take-aways from the Herbalife wellness symposium:

1. This feeling:  we do not exercise because we do not have time - as if we do not own our time.  Remember, we own our time.  We own our body, and we ought to take good care of it - we only have one body, and we can always improve it, e.g. Meowthlovescoffee version 2.0.

2.  Exercise and good diet must be part of our lifestyle, with or without symptoms of those so called lifestyle illnesses.  A missed exercise routine will probably make you feel like you did not brush your teeth in a day - one of the many ways to determine if exercise is already ingrained in your life.

3. No time for exercise because of work?  Wake up 5 to 10 minutes earlier than usual, and start with dynamic stretching.  This can be done at home, anytime of the day.  It does not matter if you work at night and sleep all morning.  Wake up and exercise.

4.  Diets and exercise routines are good - but which ones are considered the best?  Any exercise routine or diet that you will eventually do and stay committed at.  Part of the study that was shared during the symposium, 94% of the folks who enrolled at the gym did not come back after a month.  So, engage in a fitness routine or sports ,which you really love to do.

5.  Support is also important.  Having a buddy or friend who exercises may help you stay on track, or join a sports community.  In true millennial fashion, a #FitnessInspiration may also help. For the Pinoy millennials, 'how to be you po?'

Here are some snapshots of the Herbalife wellness event held at the Conrad Hotel MOA, October 27.

A demo of a regression push up, intended for beginners by Coach Chappy Callanta (during the wellness symposium).

For the super final take-away, here is an exercise for beginners video by fitness expert Sam Clayton for Herbalife, as posted in Herbalife's YouTube channel.  This video includes tips on how to get started with a 5-minute to 10-minute workout from home routine.

Herbalife Nutrition at Work Survey Reveals Filipino Millennials Desire Healthy, Active Workplace Environment

[NEWS RELEASE]
PHILIPPINES, October 27, 2016 – Herbalife Nutrition, a global nutrition company, has released the findings from its Asia Pacific Millennials At Work Survey, which revealed that Filipino millennials are adapting a healthy, active lifestyle.  However, most believe their current workplace environment prevents them from doing so.
Millennials, or people born in between 1980 and 2000, are opting for a workplace that will encourage them to stay active, if only this will be embedded in every company culture.  About 83%, or eight (8) in 10 millennials have agreed that they would like their company workplace to adopt a healthy, active lifestyle.
With the millennial generation expected to make up 50% of the global workforce by 2020, ensuring the well-being of millennials will be important to improving workplace productivity. “There are about 35 million millennials now in the Philippines, which is about one-third of the country’s entire population. Five years from now, millennials will be dominating the labor force. While most millennials want to lead healthy lives, they face real obstacles at work in doing so,”said Rosalio Valenzuela, Herbalife Philippines General Manager. “At Herbalife Nutrition, we provide our employees with nutrition products at work, subsidize gym memberships, hold regular wellness programs related to nutrition and well-being, and encourage participation in outdoor activities and sports competitions.”
The survey findings revealed the following:
  • Seven (7) out of 10 millennials strive to live healthy, active lives
  • However, the majority of millennials find it challenging to maintain an active lifestyle at work – eight (8) out of 10 millennials spend 6 to 13 hours at their work desk each day, and 64% of millennials get less than 30 minutes of physical activity – including standing, stretching and walking at work on an average work day
  • 64% of millennials cited the “lack of time” as the key obstacle to engaging in physical activity at work
To provide tips on how millennials and their employers can integrate positive nutrition and life style habits at their workplaces, Herbalife Nutrition has organized a sixth Asia Pacific Wellness Tour, which builds upon the successes of the past five tours that welcomed over 100,000  participants. Five experts from the Herbalife Nutrition Advisory Board (NAB) are scheduled to tour 21 Asian cities from October 7 to 30, to hold a series of talks, workshops and medical symposium across the region.
“Through these efforts, we hope to equip organizations and employees with the right tools to collectively build a healthier work environment across Asia Pacific,” said Valenzuela.
Julian Alvarez Garcia, M.D., PhD., a member of the Herbalife Nutrition Advisory Board, will be visiting Manila for the Asia Pacific Wellness Tour this October. Julian Alvarez Garcia, M.D., PhD. will also be sharing expert advice on how millennials can adopt simple positive nutrition and lifestyle habits at work to improve their overall well-being in the long run.
Nutrition
Dedicate a healthy eating day each week and get colleagues involved in making healthy choices for lunch on this day.
Boost water intake to help the body digest food, rid the body of toxins, and help deliver nutrients to the cells. Drink at least eight (8) glasses or two (2) liters of water a day.
Have a protein shake combined with non-fat milk and healthy fruit for breakfast. With 20-30 grams of protein and low-fat contents, it can provide the body with all the nutrition it needs to power through the day.
Active Living
Create a playlist that incorporates upbeat music and play with hourly intervals.
Use Running Apps to keep energized and on-pace during regular runs.
Set a goal to join running competitions to motivate self to sustain an active lifestyle.
